Kurt Schlichter: "Trump Is Going To Break Your Heart."

"As a young man, I learned that sometimes that hot chick you're dating is also completely crazy and, as much fun as it is to go out with her, it's going to end badly. That's Donald Trump, the super hottie of the "I Hate the GOP Establishment with a Burning Passion That Has Rendered Me Insusceptible to Reason" crew. He's sexy, he likes to party, and he certainly puts out – in the sense that he fulfills your fantasies about giving it to the RINOs good and hard. That intensely troubling metaphor aside, the point is still valid. Donald Trump is not a keeper, not the one you want to marry. He’s never going to make you happy. For now, he's going to say what makes you happy, and for now he's going to make a lot of the right people go nuts, but if you get hitched he’ll cheat on you with the liberals. At the end of the day, you’ll walk out of the courtroom wearing a barrel while Trump and the pool boy jet off to Tahiti on your dime."

Trump is the penultimate narcissist, this campaign is primarily about stroking his ego and getting his face in front of the masses.

It is interesting that he is a close personal friend of the Clintons and had a nice long phone chat with Bill right before he announced his candidacy. He has been a Clinton donor and supporter for years. It's also very interesting that he recently decided to become a republican and run for president the same year as Hitlery. The term 'cat among the pigeons' comes to mind. He says all the right things at all the right times to energize the GOP faithful - but, I don't think he means it. "It's just pillow talk, baby."

Also of interest is the amount of screen time he gets compared to other R candidates. It's almost as though some invisible hand behind the screen is pushing him ahead of the others.

Since the average GOP voter has a memory like Dory from 'Finding Nemo', he gets away with it effortlessly.

Ha! Funny. But obvious from the start.
For Trump and Carson both, likely also for the rest, this is about money, book sales, Fox news punditry BS, etc. etc.
Hillary will beat whoever is left from this GOP cannibal fest.

Yeah, instead of voting for Trump who is actually talking about deporting illegal aliens, we should vote for Cruz who doesn't. Because we're going to get screwed anyway?

"Secondly, I believe we should expand legal immigration, reduce the barriers, reduce the waiting periods and I've introduced two amendments to significantly expand legal immigration, to double the caps on legal immigration from 675,000 to 1.3 million and to increase temporary high skilled workers by 500%." - U. S. Senator Ted Cruz

We should vote for a known globalist, because, well Trump is like this crazy chick I dated and was fun to be with, but it ended badly, so I'm not going to vote for him.

Yeah, that's completely logical...

Most folks don't know that the president is a hired man. He is hired to run the country. He is told what he can and can not do. He drives down the inter-state. He can change lanes, speed up or slow down. He can not stop or get off the inter-state. Regardless of gets elected we are going to get shafted.

"Heartbreaker"

Your love is like a tidal wave, spinning over my head
Drownin' me in your promises, better left unsaid
You're the right kind of sinner to release my inner fantasy
The invincible winner and you know that you were born to be

You're a heartbreaker, dream maker, love taker
Don't you mess around with me

... probably the LAST throw of the die that the US of A has?

Well if you want to put it in the perspective of a human relationship. Id say Trump is the girl you go out with to piss off the ex who robbed you of your spirit, worked you down to the bone, sucked the life out of you and left you penny less. You know she will be jealous of your new girl, worried about her own femininity and paranoid that you might marry her. But the girl is just a girl to you and not someone you expect to last.

And while we're using the analogy of being at a party, Trump may be the loud clown dancing with a lampshade on his head. But I came to the party hoping Rand Paul would ask me to dance, and he's been sitting in the back like a wallflower that's afraid he'll start stuttering if he comes over to me. Maybe his campaign boys told him that none of us girls really wanted to dance with him, and if he sits there all quiet and meek maybe we'll come over and ask him. I really wanted him to ask me to dance and I probably would have left with him too, but now it looks like I'll have to leave with someone else..

Trump is a one term "turn around guy" When a corporation is tanking due to bad management, the directors often bring in a turn around guy to right the ship. It gets ugly, lots of firings and shrinking the staff, closed divisions, negotiations with vendors, and an emphasis on sales to get new blood flowing. The people who survive hate the guy because he fires all of their friends. It's ugly and uncomfortable. But once done, the turn around guy is replaced with someone who has the charisma and values to lead the company and grow it again. Washington DC and the NY Banks are so corrupt, someone has to expose them. Someone has to pull the wrapper off to show all of us that we don't have a candy bar, we have a turd wrapped in persuasive paper to fool us. I can't see Trump turning on the date who brought him to the party, knowing that most of us have guns. Give him four years. Most important is his VP, because that person can be set-up to run things once the uglies are over.

I doubt many Trump supporters are planning to "marry" him. At least, as I understand this analogy, that would imply him actually being elected and serving as President of the United States.

The correspondence between support for Trump and a nearly complete loss of faith in our electoral and mass media politics is hard to miss. Nearly every Trump supporter believes in one or more 'conspiracy theories' about how the Establishment will go to whatever lengths are necessary to sabotage Trump and ensure he doesn't reach office. I find the bulk of these theories to be at least possible, and many of them plausible, and I'm not even a Trump supporter.

So why are a bunch of Americans 'dating' a candidate whom they firmly believe they will never be able to 'marry' because of the wicked machinations of their political enemies?

I strongly suspect it's because they aren't looking at this story as a "rom-com" plot. This is a story of vengeance, and the part where the villains kidnap and murder the hero's 'girl' is an important plot point. Sure, they're bad guys and have done a lot of other bad things. But this is why the protagonist is willing to machine gun his way through scene after scene without having any moral qualms about the body count. Maybe she wasn't that perfect a girl, maybe she partied hard and did drugs and had fidelity issues. But her death justifies a cinematic spree of violent retribution that we've all seen more times than we can readily remember.

Yeah, okay, so maybe that analogy is a little weird, I'm just going with the article's conceit.

So instead vote for Hilary? Or don't vote and get Hilary? Doesn't matter. I'm voting for the GOP nominee. If none of these other clueless
P O L I T I C I A N S can't figure out how to win the nomination, then I'll vote for Trump. And if he screws is, then we'll just go ahead and have this revolution that's smoldering just under the surface anyway. It's inevitable. Sooner or later. Either way. If voting for Trump gives us a little more time, I'll take it.

Another glib, cool, neocon lick spittle and stooge. Why are the dead elephants so worried about this man? Answer: They cannot control him, he is immune to back-room deals, and he has the ear to a very large majority who have awakened to the fact that the Dead Elephant Party is just the flip-side of the coin to the Jackass Party.
The Jackass Party is not afraid of Trump because they already have the Hildabeast ready for coronation. The Dead Elephants know that Trump represents their downfall because he is exposing their war-mongering, Wall Street-pandering policies. Just as their grandfathers sabotaged Goldwater in '64, they will move heaven and earth to do the same to Trump.

After 64 years in this world and observing most of humanities foibles and faults, and sometimes as personal experience, something tells me that there may be more than a grain of truth in that assessment of Trump.

Perhaps he's right. At worst, Trump will be as much of a sell-out as the rest of the RINOs and we've lost nothing. In that case the inevitable use of arms by citizens against tyranny will still occur. Net change in that case: zero.

OTOH, if he'll actually fulfill his promises- something successful businessmen do but politicians don't- then we have a *small* chance to avoid CW2.

It's not hard to come to a logical decision, given such facts.

Excellent analysis. There have been some recent cracks in Trump's quasi conservative facade. It is good to see the people of Iowa have seen through him, too. Ted Cruz has his faults, but overall is a true Conservative who also gives the RINOs and Democrats nightmares. I think many Republicans will take Ted over Don anyday, and when the field starts to thin that choice will become more clear.

i don't know anyone falling in love with trump, but i'd still rather see him elected than hillary. he's prettier, for one.

the GOP establishment having to actually bargain with him, rather than simply telling him what to do, is a start. it is one that no other candidate can offer. i have no illusions or "fantasies" about sticking it to them.

quite frankly, i don't think the target persons of this persuasive essay are over the age of 25. all the hype is among the reactionary kids, as is typical.

while the metaphor is appreciable, the problem is that it breaks down immediately on one very key point. the choice is not between trump-girlfriend and just being single, as it would be if your war buddy was presenting it, or if not-voting was actually counted and then honored with a vacant seat if it won the the majority.

the choice is between trump-girlfriend and hillary: your own mother.

Ted Cruz is by far the best man of the lot to be President! He gets my vote in the Primary. The Republican Nominee gets my vote in the General Election!
