"What will our children say of us?" Three Commandments to add to the Decalogue.

Warsaw Ghetto child.

Are we walking into the Gulag with our eyes wide open? Our love for the rule of law, our respect for the stability and security of our Constitution make the thought of civil disobedience repugnant to American patriots. Yet here we are, in March 2010, and a President with known Marxist connections and ideology, accomplishes in one week what Communist Revolutionaries have dreamed of for a century. Russia doesn’t need an arsenal. One man will hand over 300,000,000.

The greatest triumph of Marxism will not be the victory over the temporal, political, and economic orders, but rather, the destruction of the human spirit, the transformation of a free people into a nation of bystanders, executioners of their own and their neighbor’s God-given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If Barack Obama is not stopped in this course, we will be legislated and Executive Ordered into the mental and physical Gulag. We will first tolerate in the name of patriotic obedience, then endure in the name of personal preservation, that dehumanizing servitude from which we spent a century fighting to deliver the rest of the world.

Perhaps we can pause and acknowledge the mental turmoil that others wrestled with when trying to decide if the moment had come to resist, or if waiting for another, or a clearer sign from those who controlled their lives, would yield the cessation of oppression. It is so easy to scream to the shadows of the past that they should have known, should not have walked so meekly to their slaughter. What will our children say of us? -- Jeanette Pryor, "America Betrayed – Thou Shalt Never, But Never, Be a Bystander"

My sincere and heartfelt thanks to Irregular Garrett M. for this email and link.

Mike,

Just in case your all-seeing sharp eyes have not ever come across this item, on your busy info streaming desk:

America Betrayed – Thou Shalt Never, But Never, Be a Bystander | David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog http://bit.ly/d59Gc6

Mr. Yehuda Bauer, is an academic and adviser to Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and offered this as a stirring directive reminder, in the context of a (UN !) Holocaust Remembrance a number of years ago, perhaps as he suggests an addendum of three more commandments to Moses' biblical Decalogue:

"Thou shalt never be a perpetrator.
Thou shalt never be a victim.
And thou shalt never, but never, be a bystander.” ~Yehuda Bauer

Perhaps this sums up the very essence of the Three-per Brotherhood Credo .

We are everywhere, lock & reload.

Do stay safe and keep your powder dry, brother.

Thou shalt never be a perpetrator. Thou shalt never be a victim. And thou shalt never, but never be a bystander ~Yehuda Bauer

Many years ago I read a book called "The Cold And The Dark". It's the book that introduced the term 'nuclear winter'. It was a collection of essays by prominent physicists and others elaborating on 'models'... scenarios in which nuclear winter might be triggered.

The most startling of those models suggested that a mere 100 MT distributed properly might be enough to sterilize the planetary surface in perpetuity.

Back in the 70s, forward thinking people realized that the SovUn was NEVER going to throw the first punch because that punch would have to take out the Minuteman sites in Kansas and Nebraska, and that's where the wheat came from which fed the SovUn after their most recent 'crop failure'.

I'm pretty sure the same is true today, but the message of "The Cold And The Dark" was that it doesn't matter. Any nuclear conflict of any substantial magnitude can start a chain of events for which there is no 'future' as we understand the term.

All we (or any nation) need is enough juice to make nuclear winter a probable outcome. That puts everyone in the position of never being able to use any of it.

Let's not obsess over 'they've got more than we do'. Beyond a certain (probably small) capability, it simply doesn't matter.

"Honour, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them, if we basely entail hereditary bondage upon them."
