Yes, no doubt it was merely a typo, but I just wanted to make it clear so those who wanted to look it up would know where to find it ;).

Will, exactly right. However, it's important to keep in mind that faith without works is dead. (James 2:16-18)

IOW, by that I mean just as that scripture reference makes clear. It does nobody any good just to pray for something miraculous to change, happen, move, etc., etc. without working toward that end.

For example, someone could pray heartily and faithfully that their mortgage will get paid (which would be a righteous prayer, superficially, at least), but if that someone isn't ALSO diligently working toward that end, however mundane, it's pure vanity.

Another example would be the commoners, who claim to be Christians, willingly enriching Hollyweird celebs and producers by paying to entertain themselves and fill up their minds with the vile garbage that emanates from its churnin' cesspools, sit quietly in their home and never speak up or out about Jesus or Christianity (or the Constitution for that matter!) when in a public setting, and so on. Yet, those same commoners "praying" for a restoration of America to miraculously happen is a colossal waste of time. After all, by their own very actions (or inactions as the case may be), whether conscientiously or not, they are nonetheless working toward the opposite end.

Yes, God indeed performs miracles, of course, but he manifests them on behalf of those who diligently seek his face, and are bent toward God while they also work (however small the measure of work you individually can muster matters not, but motive is paramount) toward that righteous end in question AND/OR by refusing to do the unrighteous like Mr. Couch (and Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ...as well) courageously did.dixiedoghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09845646940134894119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-42367870113294437722007-04-02T21:36:00.000-06:002007-04-02T21:36:00.000-06:00Re: anonymous,Totally agree, pastors are scared an...Re: anonymous,

Totally agree, pastors are scared and their sheep are following. As one of the sheep that tries to help wake up pastor, deacon, and members, it is quite disheartening at times. But........God. Keep praying to have faith and perserverence to not faint from doing good. Hard when so much personal sanctification still needed. Keep hearing: " you read too much" HA!Wayne in PAhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07798187933045157968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-76846774866591855212007-04-02T15:07:00.000-06:002007-04-02T15:07:00.000-06:00Yes, it is possible for our nation to be restored....Yes, it is possible for our nation to be restored. "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." I Cor. 7: 13,14

It's up to the Church, not voters, not lobbyists, not the Republicans, not the Libertarians, not politicians or bureaucrats. This mess is the Church's fault. Pray for Reformation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
