I seem to remember one self-described Evangelical Special Forces General saying that the conflict between Christianity and Mohammedanism boils down to (I paraphrase) "My God is bigger than his."

The real tragedy of war-centered pop Christianity today is that it focuses on destroying the identified enemy by killing as many of them as possible, rather than seeking God's grace to eliminate the enemy through genuine conversion. Remember Ann Coulter's infamous gibe about "invad[ing] their countries, kill[ing] their leaders, and convert[ing] them to Christianity" -- a splenetic outburst that demonstrates to me that Miss Coulter is a dubious person, at best, to lecture other people about being "Godless."

Christians are permitted -- required, in the case of heads of households -- to practice self-defense. But I can't imagine that anyone whose soul has actually been touched by Jesus would be eager to kill anyone, particularly those in thrall to a soul-killing religion.William N. The word evangelical points towards evangelism, the gospel, and the Great Commission – of which Muslims are included.

There are probably very few people who have a worse opinion of Islam than me. But I find it unconscionable that a few of my war-mongering “evangelical“ coworkers think that Muslims should be pretty much indiscriminately bombed into oblivion. And up until lately, they seemed to view Bush (as Will has said before) as an adjunct member of the Trinity. I've parodied the Great Commmission to them as "go ye into all the world and slay the infidels where ever you find them..." Some sorta get it; others seem to welcome a war of civilizations.DRShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198878981483483288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-1161518616646158002006-10-22T06:03:00.000-06:002006-10-22T06:03:00.000-06:00DRS,maybe the evangelicals are not evangelical at ...DRS,

maybe the evangelicals are not evangelical at all, but just plain ol' zealots? it's amazing that anyone would support a man that would send their sons or daughters of to die just to save face. ...especially when the same man was kept from such a sacrifice himself.

well, he'll reap what he sows. i just hope for his sake it's in this lifetime and not the next.rickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12473173027048173880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-1161502713788600332006-10-22T01:38:00.000-06:002006-10-22T01:38:00.000-06:00Will, I hope you can give us as much info on Romne...Will,
I hope you can give us as much info on Romney as possible.....I am sure he is a dangerous man. I am an active Mormon and I realize that The Mormons are apathetic and ignorant, but so is the general population. And as you know Will, the Mormon authorities used to speak up quite a lot against socialism and communism and for our constitution, but as more of our membership has gotten sucked into the socialist/globalist propaganda, the Church leaders have almost ceased speaking against it....probably because if they did it would cause a severe contention within the Church, and as Elder Benson said "it might break the Church asunder." I am putting together a fact sheet on my local LDS Congressman John Doolittle's voting record, and it is atrocious, he votes for unconstitutional legislation almost half the time, all the while telling his constituents that he supports the constitution. He is a real hypocrite and liar and blind supporter of Bush....he makes me want to puke. Some Mormons say that he is such a good Church member and family man.....and I say that's fine and good, but he doesn't belong in his office unless he can support his Constitutional oath. But the similar blind Mormons will vote for him no matter that he is destroying their "inspired constitution." They have no concept of what the proper role of government is, they consistenly put their trust in the arm of flesh that they are warned by their Book of Morman NOT to do. It is like they have a permanent mental block or something.....and I think most Christians have the same problem....Satan's deceptive power here is amazing.arnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05971811866752566814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-1161498927944074502006-10-22T00:35:00.000-06:002006-10-22T00:35:00.000-06:00Not all the points that FAIR cites to illustrate t...Not all the points that FAIR cites to illustrate the similarity between Islam and Mormonism are unique to those two religions. Specifically I'm referring to the point about how "Mormons believe that God as described in Islam is the same Being worshiped by Bible believers".

A Vatican II document, Lumen Gentium, states the following:

“But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. In the first place amongst these there are the Mohamedans, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind.”

http://www.vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_const_19641121_lumen-gentium_en.html

It escapes me how it can be said that Muslims worship the same Creator God as Catholics given Islam's explicit denial of Christ's resurrection and divinity.

Nevertheless, your point is well-taken. The religious angle is fascinating. But it's tragic and scary if "evangelicals" can so easily cast aside such serious doctrinal and constitutional issues in deference to the "War on Terror". Such people will become willing accomplices in building the Total State.

David StertzDRShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198878981483483288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-1161490135481292122006-10-21T22:08:00.000-06:002006-10-21T22:08:00.000-06:00Will, I have been an avid reader of your writing f...Will, I have been an avid reader of your writing for many years and I really appreciate your staight-forward style and depth of knowledge but I have to tell you, you had me but you lost me. To name just two: Like Mohammed, Joseph Smith claimed to have been visited by an angel (Gabriel in Mohammed's case, “Moroni” in Smith's), and , through that messenger, to have received a new book of scripture; both Muslims and Mormons have practiced polygamy, and some fringe elements of both religions do so even today."

you know, this is interesting. perhaps it was the same demon with the same message? there is nothing new under the sun.
