The Law and Personal Firearms

In this essay, I’m concerned with the relevant federal laws and rulings. Whatever your personal beliefs regarding externally imposed laws regarding defensive arms, you should be aware of all state and local laws which might apply in your area. It is far easier to protect yourself against state-sanctioned attack if you understand what you are guarding against. Further, I recommend that you study the relevant federal laws yourself; they are in plain English and are not too difficult to understand. You should be aware that I am not a lawyer, nor am I a trained gunsmith, nor a machinist. Those caveats aside, I am providing this information as carefully and completely as I know how. You are responsible for your own actions, and for the consequences of those actions. Firearms are deadly tools, doubly so if not respected or understood. Don’t come crying to me if you shoot your finger off, or put your eye out, or kill your neighbor through ignorance or folly.
