Alaska: Appeals Court Cracks Down on Coercive Searches

Submitted by Bill St. Clair on Tue, 2008-04-22 05:22.

theNewspaper.com - Susan S. Brown was pulled over by an Alaska traffic cop for a dirty license plate light. She consented to a search request, and the pig found a crack pipe. In a narrow ruling, the Alaska Court of Appeals ruled the search as illegal, since she was coerced into consenting to it. Good. Remember, never answer a cop's question about anything and never, ever consent to a search.
