The TrueMajority Campaign - Spank Bush - cute Flash animation that allows you to spank GW with your hand, a wooden board, or a fish, for a number of different naughty deeds. Turn your sound on. Hehe. [root]

# Daniel Boone at The Claire Files Board - Good News From Hunter, Out From Under The Sword Of Damoclese - He's finalized a misdemeanor plea (click his picture at the top of the left column for details of the case), though Mr. Boone didn't include any details, and it hasn't hit the docket yet. I hope that "It's a good deal" means that there won't be any jail time. Doc Liberty responded: [clairefiles]

Glad to hear that he has that monkey off of his back. Now the only question that remains is how much of Verizon he will end up owning. Big Grin

# Last night I fired some of the real .44 Magnum rounds that I loaded on Wednesday night. They all went bang, very loudly. Can't speak for accuracy, since I'm shooting with the open sights that came with my Marlin, but the right number of holes appeared in the target near where I was aiming. The report of the 240 grain bullets echoed off the hills like a real rifle round.

According to Hodgdon's .44 Magnum Rifle Data, I should be getting somewhere near 1800 fps from the 240 grain load. Consulting my Muzzle Energy Computer, that translates to about 1700 foot pounds. 1400 fps from a 300 grain bullet is about 1300 foot pounds. I guess filling half the case with the longer bullet makes a real difference. I'll stick with 240 grainers from now on.

After firing 16 magnum rounds, I dropped back to my less-efficacious-against-bad-guys-but-much-more-fun-to-shoot cowboy action loads, and pulverized some clay pigeons. Yeeeeee Haaaaaaaa!

It was very humid last night at the range, and my glasses kept fogging up. I decided to try shooting with the M1A at an FBI Q Target at 100 yards without glasses. I hit the target, most of the time, but the shots were all over the place. Guess I'm not the guy to call for sniping in inclement weather.

# Rachel Lucas - All Eomer, All the Time - I've retitled Ms. Lucas' blog to match her content of late. Hehe. It's OK, Rachel, I still love you. [rachel]

# Kurt Wilson at Survival Enterprises - Emergency - the BATFE stole $100,000 worth of collectible firearms from Mr. Wilson. Not to mention arresting him with five carloads of armed gummint goons, for the publicity, for possessing weapons that he was licensed to sell. He's asking for donations to his legal "attack" fund. Jesus H. Christ! How long are we going to allow these jack-booted thugs to shit all over everybody before we respond in kind? From the summary page (but read all the links): [trt-ny]

I can't write any more right now. I'm ashamed at what our government has sunk to; I'm emotionally drained at having to explain to my family and friends about this, and then watching them suffer as well; I'm astonished at the gall of agents of our government and how easy it is for them to willingly destroy a fellow citizen, for mere paperwork blunders!

But I want to leave you all with the following warnings:

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has decided that it is illegal for ANYONE (dealer or private citizen) to cross state lines to either buy or sell a firearm at a gun show!
(even though this has been tradition for over 75 years!)

In other words, ALL gun shows have been infiltrated by agents of our loving government and WILL set you up if you buy or sell a firearm, and you live in any state but the one the gunshow is in. This is NOT guess work on my part. I have seen lists of gunshows that have either undercover agents or CI's (Confidential Informants) running around in them. They buy guns from various people, and then just keep track of you 'till they want you.

No matter how paranoid you are, it ain't enough!

# Maxine Gentle at The Independent - Letter to Tony Blair - Miss Gentle's brother was killed in Iraq. She gives Mr. Blair a piece of her mind. [whatreallyhappened]

My name is Maxine Gentle and I am 14 years old. I am the sister of Fusilier Gordon Gentle who died in the war in Iraq on the 28th June 2004. I want my thoughts and feelings to be heard and known.

My feelings are that I think you are rubbish at your job. You don't care about the British public, armed forces or anyone in fact.

My big brother died at the age of 19, and what for? A war over oil and money, that's what I think the war is all about. There was no such thing as weapons of "mass destruction", if there were Saddam Hussein would have used them at the start of the war.

I think that you should withdraw all of our soldiers from Iraq. After all, it is not our war, it's America's. So why did we, the British, have to get involved? I think that you just don't want to get on the wrong side of George Bush.

# AP via The State - Justice says guns-drawn raid didn't violate civil rights laws - Goose Creek High School Raid the U.S. Justice Department has decided that the Goose Creek police raid of the local high school, with guns drawn, was just hunky-dory. I'll bet if I walked into a high school carrying a gun they'd think otherwise. But, hey. Some animals, the pigs, are more equal than others. [claire]

# Riot Grrrl at Philly.com - Anti-Bushites: Ready, aim, satire BugMeNot - a fun look at who plans to protest the RNC ten days from today. bugmenot has an access code. [smith2004]

What will the anarchists be doing during the convention?

Riot Grrrl has no idea.

"Anarchists don't speak for other anarchists," a young man with glasses and dirty feet says.

...

Manhattan Libertarian Party

The head of this group, Jim Lesczynski, is wearing a T-shirt that reads: "Unauthorized Protester RNC 2004 New York City."

The back says: "Permits? We don't need no stinking permits."

Lesczynski says his following plans to enter Central Park on Aug. 29, whether the anti-Bush rally gets a permit or not.

"Do you think you'll get arrested?" Riot Grrrl asks.

"No," he says.

"Will you be wearing your Unauthorized Protester shirts?"

"Yes."

In that case, how about a shirt that says: "Shoot me with rubber bullets, blind me with tear gas, RNC 2004."

Oh well, so some of the protesters are dummies. Riot Grrrl is still excited.

# Katie Dean at Wired - P2P Services in the Clear - the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that peer-to-peer services cannot be held liable for illegal actions by their users. Duh. The plaintiffs will likely appeal and will also likely put more pressure on Orin Hatch to push through his Induce Act. Barf. [wes]
